HUNGER HAS MET ITS MATCH! - Over $21K raised in donation match challenge from local philanthropists
Warminster Food Bank, a nonprofit
organization that serves people experiencing food insecurity in Bucks and
Montgomery Counties, is pleased to announce that its August donation match
challenge was a big success. $10,000 of the
11,778.56 in donations received were matched by the Gene and Marlene Epstein Humanitarian
Fund bringing the total raised to $21,778.56.
The Match Challenge funds have been used to purchase additional
commercial refrigerators and freezers, which allow the food bank to collect and store more perishable food items to better serve the food bank’s guests with healthier choices.
Gene and Marlene
Epstein decided to get involved with Warminster Food Bank when they learned about the organization’s mission and their need for refrigerators and freezers. “We were pleased to make this matching donation so that the food bank can meet the ongoing needs of the people they serve,” stated Gene Epstein. “We greatly appreciate the help of the community in helping to provide enough food for our neighbors who are struggling with food insecurity.”
“We couldn’t be more grateful to the Epsteins for their matching donation for this fundraising
campaign,” said Mike Cerino, Executive Director, Warminster Food Bank. “The funds raised through the matching campaign allowed us to purchase the additional equipment necessary to increase the quantity of fresh meats, fruits and
vegetables we can store and distribute to our guests. Since food insecurity is an
ongoing concern, having commercial refrigerators and freezers will help us to make lives better for those we serve.”
